Shri Guru Ram Rai University contains PhD programs transversely in Science, Technology, Management, Pharmacy, Education and other fields. The aspirants interested in obtaining a doctoral position have to have completed their post graduation with at least 55% marks. Candidates are also supposed to sit for the university's entrance test and later they should appear for the interview process for an admission to be done.
An entrance test for the PhD program consisting of Multiple Choice Questions and Descriptive Questions on Post Graduate Subject knowledge is held every year. Already based on the results of the test scores, shortlisted candidates are scheduled further for an interview with experts from the related departments. With the academic knowledge, the process also analyses the candidates' potential research work via situational interrogation.

1. Check Eligibility. Please check if you qualify academically as per what the college has stated on educational qualifications, entrance exam scores or any other condition.
2. Identify Department. Cement your mind in which Department of PhD program and subject area within a program you prefer from the list of programs promoted by the University.
3. Obtain Application Form. Either download the PhD admission application form on the webpage of the University or simply collect it from their office.
4. Fill Application Form. Attach all personal information, academic record, research area etc.
5. Submit Application. Please adhere to the deadline and present the well-filled application form plus supporting documents and application fee (if applicable) to the University office. For long term storage, keep the copy in a safe place.
6. Interview. If a shortlist is announced by the department/unit, appear for an interview on the selected date and time. The final decision about joining in is determined by academic merit, research abilities etc.
1. Students wishing to enroll the doctoral programs will have to take the university’s own entrance test. This test is carried out annually in June/July as a prerequisite for admission.
2. The test is made of two papers: Paper I - an aptitude test, and Paper II - a test of the understanding of subjects. A double paper examination has to be taken by the candidates.
3. The entrance test will be a multiple choice MCQ question paper of 100 marks with 50 questions asked of each paper. Duration -1 hour for each article.
4. The marks for good answers will be diminished for wrong answers in Paper I. The paper II would have no negative marking.
5. Candidates who score 50% marks in Paper I and 55% of marks in Paper II are announced as the qualified applicants in the test. SC, OBC, and an additional 3% for the PH candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in reservation.
6. In addition to this, test is waived off for candidates who have qualified UGC NET/JRF exam with 50 percentile, CAT test with 50 percentile, GATE test or teachers fellows are exempted from taking entrance test. They have a chance to wait for the interview right away.
1. Candidates should hold a Master's degree or any other professional degree recognized as equivalent to the Master's degree by statutory regulatory body. The minimum marks limit for the Master's degree aggregate is 55%.
2. Those who will be accepted for the M.Phil. 55% is the qualifying aggregate mark for bachelor degree and such degree holders are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
3. For example, M.Phil. Is the degree with the Equivalent grade to the candidates. The degree mark of an our university from a university of a foreign country, which is recognized by Accreditation Council, must be at least 55%.
4. A grace marks of 5 % is given to the SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layer)/Differently-Abled candidates which will surely boost their certification.
5. Those eligible for the Ph.D program are candidates whose Master’s dissertation is endorsed with viva conducted as well.
6. Candidates presenting education accepted as equivalent to M.Phil. or after the termination of these activities or after completing the full-fledged Master in Philosophy (M.Phil).
