Cotton University has full time and part time PhD programs for the students in the faculties of science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. The acceptance rate is relatively low and only about 15% of the applicants are offered admission into the PhD program.
The eligibility criteria entail that the candidates must possess a master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 60 percent marks or its equivalent. Outstanding candidates who have also 4 years of bachelor program in related field are also considered. There is always a list of qualified candidates depending on the merits of each candidate.

1. The candidates have to pass the UGC NET/JRF or other similar national level exams such as GATE/CSIR/ICMR/ICAR/INSPIRE. This is a pre-requisite fulfilment for the eligibility PhD programme Cotton University.
2.Applicants who have completed the State Level Eligibility Test and obtained a valid score card are allowed to apply for doctoral studies. Such tests are SLET/SET exams conducted by the states.
3. Besides government and state level exams, candidates also need to face the Cotton University Entrance Test (CUET), a special case for those PhD programs to which they apply. They are designed to measure the levels of research aptitude among the students.
4. The CUET score and the performance in the national/state exams are used to shortlist the candidates for an interview and a subject proficiency test that is conducted by the University.
5. The competency test that assessed the understanding level of the learner of the subject as per a graduate level. It is an examination to move forward.
