These are advertised every year through an admission notice that is posted on the university’s website and newspapers. The selection tests include written examination that includes questions that require research, analytical skills and factual knowledge about the subject. Candidates are then called for an interview whereby the research interest of the candidate is assessed. The final section is based on the average of the written test and interview for the candidates.
CNLU provides opportunity to get PhD scholarships for deserving candidates. Full-time students are provided with a monthly allowance for three years as well as contingency grants for research and fieldwork. Other services like library, computer, campus accommodation etc are also available. The normal period of study for the PhD program is three years though it can take two more years to complete. In order to be awarded the doctorate degree, the candidates are required to write a thesis on an approved topic under the supervision of a faculty member and defend the thesis through viva-voce examination.

1. It is necessary to make sure you visit the university website or advertisement for PhD notifications and are also eligible to be considered for the PhD and are eligible to be considered for the PhD.
2. Identify the faculty member whom you will be working with a university in your line of research and make sure they understand the full scope of their role in this process.
3. There comes the time when the application goes open, typically, from June/July. That is when you should download the PhD application form from the university website.

1. Go through the university website or ad for the notification due date of Phd admission that recognizes applicants’ eligibility, mode of applications, admission test dates and so on. This is normally released in May/June.
2. The applicant must have a masters' degree in law and should hold a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria. They should also clear the NET/SLET national/state-level exam, as applicable.
3. Online application submission should be conducted not later than the date of the deadline mentioned in the notification. You should fill in your qualification, research interests and the application fees on the application form before the closing date and paying the fees online.
4. However, attend the written admission test held in June/July which involves a research aptitude test and a subject test to establish the qualification and the background knowledge.
5. The selection criteria applies to qualifying candidates and they have to appear before the board and present their research work, and be interviewed to gauge them for the PhD program in early August.
6. Upon selection, fill-in admission forms which include fees and document submission deadline as it is outlined in university's directives. Submit and confirm admission by August.
7. After being admitted, ultimately, enroll in the pre-PhD coursework and get allocated a supervisor, upon which you will begin your doctoral research.
