Central University of Orissa provides PhD degrees across the spectrum of various fields, comprising arts, commerce, sciences, education, law and others. The candidates should have a Master's degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks so as to be eligible for admission. In addition to that, candidates need to take exam for admission to the university. Afterwards they will need to pass an interview.
The admissions process is carried out in two stages. The written exam consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). It tests the research ability, comprehension, reasoning skills etc. Candidates who have an upper hand in the written exam, appear for the interview round. In this round, capabilities of candidates like conceptual clarity and research abilities are checked. The final decision is made after the written test and the interview are over.

1. Refer to the website of the university or advertisement for the PhD notification and make sure that you fulfill the eligibility criteria. Get information about the dates, locations, etc and the availability.
2. Pick the department and research field for which you are going to be applying. Seek for possible supervisors and research areas that you are passionate about.
3. Ensure that you complete your online application process before the closing date. Attach documents as specified such as certificates, CV, research proposal etc.

1. Applicants with UGC NET/JRF, CSIR NET/JRF, MPhil, TEQIP, or any other equivalent exam may be eligible for PhD admission.
2. Students who have been successful in the Master's degree with at least 55% of the marks can entirely do the university test by itself.
3. The university has the CUCET (Common University Entrance Test) for all the PhD progarmme admission process. It tests research skills, subject knowledge, and etc.
4. Only the candidates who are shortlisted will have to do an interview at the department. Additionally they will take a subject test. At the end, also the selection looks at the performance in CUSET, interview and subject test.
5. Concerning Languages, candidates will need to pass the tests assessing their proficiency.
6. As a reservation policy, the candidate from the reserved classes have the privilege of relaxation in eligibility criteria. If you are OBC/SC/ST with Master's degree with first class, then you can apply.

5. The list of students will then be added to the website when I am chosen. Receive the necessary documents confirming the admission to the specified department.
6. The admission procedures are complete when all the pending documents are submitted, fees are paid, the research proposal is approved and all these things are done within the stipulated time period.
7. Register yourself for the coursework, complete residential and other joining formalities as and when needed to start on your PhD coursework.
