VIT facilitates admission with its undergraduate and postgraduate programs through online mode which can be accessed from Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati and Bhopal campuses respectively. Students can claim to participate by registering through VIT's own website. During the application process, the online application collects data such as personal information, academic information in class 12th and entrance exam scores if applicable, as well as academic credits.

1. First of all you need to go to the official website of VIT i.e. vit.ac.in and click the option of "Admissions". Afterward, choose the program of your choice such as BTech, MTech, and so on.
2. Go to “Online Application” page, sign up by filling out all the mandatory fields.
3. Registration process will involve the creation of a unique login number and password. Please mark them.
4. The first step is to go to the website and log in using your credentials to fill out the online application. Give all the details; rightly, about yourself like, your personal information, your academics, entrance exam scores etc.
5. Attach the soft copies of the documents demanded during the process such as photograph, signature, class 10 and class 12 marksheets, entrance test scorecards etc. according to the requirements.
6. Payment of online application fee can be made through any of the methods such as net banking /debit card/ credit card.
7. Take a close look at all details you have entered before submitting, keep in mind that everything you fill in is important.
8. Download and print the complete application form and confirmation of payment to have the data for your reference in the future.
9. Announcement of the admission processing guidelines will be done by email/SMS where the status of your application will also be communicated.
10. Having passed the selection stage, you will be informed that you will be interrogated individually for the allocation of course and campus. Make sure you submit whatever else is pending and pay the necessary fees at that center.

- VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Exam) - VIT Vellore and VIT Chennai require this to admit students into the BTech programs at VIT Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal campuses. This is VIT's own test to be administered for recruiting students into its engineering discipline.
- VITMEE (VIT Master’s Entrance Examination) - With this document, we can join the MTech as well as other postgraduate engineering programs at VIT. That is to say world’s most prestigious and distinguished postgraduate engineering admission test, which is conducted by VIT.
- One can also mention the fact that GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) are also required for MTech and ME admissions in some specializations. Another benefit of pursuing an MS at VIT is that GATE qualifiers are considered for assistantships there.
- CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT – MBA admission at the VIT Business School is underobstantiated by this. Students have to have a valid passport of one of the mentioned exams.
- JEE Main - Our comprehensive range of programs includes both VITEEE and JEE Main scores that are used for outside state-based admissions for BTech at VIT.
- Educational Qualification: For admission into the different programs, the candidate must pass the 10 +2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with an aggregate of marks varying as per the courses. To reach the requirement of 60-70% of engineering, PCM is a need.
- Age Limit: The universal age criterion for enrollment to most of the undergraduate courses at VIT is 0 years.
- Entrance Tests: Different programs can have their own criteria and some do require the candidates to provide a valid score in the entrance exams like JEE Main, SAT, VITEEE and so on. There are some programs that allow candidates to be admitted only on the basis of their marks obtained in 10+2.
- Subject Pre-requisites: Students can choose the subjects to be studied in Class 10+2 like: Engineering, B.Sc and integrated programs with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In other classes, the subject are a different and related are needed.
- Application Process: Candidate who are eligible for VITMEE have to do the online registration through filling out VITMEE application form by enrolling on the VIT website. Submission of applications is accepted from November although this can depend on the academic institution concerned.
- Reservation Criteria: As per Reservation Policy of the Government of India for reserved candidates i.e. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, VIT subscribes to reservation. For PwD candidates, besides reservation in PwD category, specialized facilities are also offered.
