To receive acceptance, applicants should first visit the GOU website and press the "Apply Now" button to start the application. Students will need to register an account and submit information like their name, email, previous education details, and area of study interest.
The actual form contains questions on personal data, educational background and work experience, computer competence level, and enrollment intention. Required documents are scanned copies of 10th and 12th mark sheets. If available, college degree certificates, passport size photo and ID proof. The application fee can be paid online using credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
Application is submitted after which it is thoroughly inspected by the committee of admission. In the event of the student accepted for the signed admission, the same opens a student portal. 1. Open up the website owned by the global open university (www.theglobalopenuniversity.edu.in) and click on the “Apply Now” or “Admissions” button.
2. Choose the course you wish to enroll - undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, etc.
3. Use the email address you have and other general details to set up an account. Instruction: you will be given a login password to your email to access.
4. Log in to your account and fill out the online application form. For a prospective student's document, we need to include personal information, academic background, work experience if applicable, and statement of interest.
5. Upload the scanned copies of the documents needed for instance passport size photographs, identity proof, age proof and academic certificates/mark sheets as per university’s standards of admission.
6. Pay the application fee online through net banking, debit/credit card or UPI.
7. Send in the filled-in application form and scanned documentation.
8. When all goes well the university will notify you that your application has been accepted. They might call you to request for any clarifications or additional documents that are needed.
9. This is to confirm your admission by paying the total fee within the given period after you get the confirmation letter.
10. The program will be available for registration on the scheduled activation day. Then, you will be required to download the program materials to begin the online learning.

- Unlike the traditional universities which require entrance examinations, TGOU is different in that it does not use any examination scores as the entry requirements for admission into both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Admission is determined only by the academic criteria.
- For undergraduate programs, applicants are considered those who have spent 12 years at school or have similar academic achievements with a minimum awarded marks percentage. These reflect specific programs and they can vary considerably.
- The requirement for the bachelor's degree is normally a minimum of the mark in any field for postgraduate programs like MBA. Work experience is the most viable option for advanced studies.
- The institution has open enrollment policy for most certificate and diploma courses, the entry requirements for which may not require any prior qualification.
