1. Applicants are required to have cleared any one of the following exams: NET, GATE, GMAT and GRE. The ranking or ordering is not specified for any single exam.
2. For disciplines in which the University does not have its NET/GATE/GMAT/GRE screening process, they can take the applicants through an interview or a written test.
3. Applicants who already have an MPhil or are still in the process of completing one at a reputed university are exempted from submitting an entrance exam score. The MPhil performance and proposal will be the basis of the decision for their admission.
4. Foreign candidates who are neither in a position to take tests like NET/GATE/GRE in their own countries will only have to have their certificates and transcripts for evaluation done.
5. Besides an entrance exam score, a candidate also needs to provide a research proposal, reference letters, a statement of purpose, and a CV when he applies for the PhD program.
6. The last admission decision is made by the Board of Directors depending on the candidate's total profile, research potential and interview performance rather than just the entrance exam scores.
1. Nalanda University opens up applications each year for the award of PhD across a number of schools and departments. Students should submit their applications by that time. For example, the deadline is usually in February/March.
