Mangalore University provides full-time and part-time doctorate programs with major fields in arts, science, commerce, education and engineering as their study base. 1. Mangalore University also offers own-entry test, known as MU Ph.D Entrance Test (MUPHDET), and it is required for admission. It recurs research skills and knowledge of the subject.
2. The eligible candidates which have UGC NET, CSIR NET, SET, GATE, or teacher fellowship certificate aren't required to go through the process of MUPHDET. They can apply directly.
3. Candidate with Masters degree + M.Phil degree satisfies the eligibility criteria for interview in case the positions are still vacant even after qualifying the national level exam.
4. The chosen candidates are to be called for an interview at the department, they personally belong to along with the research proposal as a preparation subject for the next stage after the entrance exam. Interview assesses research potential.
