The Central University of Punjab (CUP) is a platform that allows applicants to do online admissions for their bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level programs. CUP admission process starts in the May every year and application forms can be accessed by visiting the official site of CUP and registering there themselves to open the application form.
The application procedures involve the applicants to fill in their personal and academic information, select the program/specialization and attach all the required document such as photo, signature, certificate of their qualifying exam and mark sheets if applicable and so on. The applications that are lacking the required documents will be regarded and considered as incomplete and will be rejected.
Upon submission, applications undergo a pre-screening stage where candidates have to pay the application fee by online net banking, credit, or debit cards and UPI. The applicants who make it to the next stage then must sit for the admission test and/or interview during the university registration (June/July). During the months of July and August, the results may either appear or not. Ultimately, by joining the university, a student will go through the payment of fees, verification of documents, and undertake medical examination, and an admission offer letter will finally be granted for the August academic session. - For the undergraduate program such as BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BCA, the candidate must qualify in CUCET(Central Universities Common Entrance Test) exam. This is in fact CAUET. The CUCET will be available to apply for candidates and candidates’ rank/score in the test will be determined based on their performance. In turn, students will be able to apply to CUP depending on their performance in CUCET.
- However, not in all cases. The university also organizes its own entry exams for postgraduate courses like MA, MSc, MCom and MBA and so on. It is called CUPMAT and CUPSAT. The candidates are all supposed to take part in these entrance exams organized from CUP and among the candidates, one can apply for PG admissions based on the performance.
- Through some postgraduate programmes, for example LLM, the admission is based on the performance in some national/state level exams like UGC NET or JRF.
- For undergraduates students have to pass the 10+2 exam with certain score from the qualifying examination as per the chosen program.
- For further education programs, the candidates have to hold a Bachelor's degree based in a recognized university with minimum percentage of marks, normally vary according to the program.
- For various schemes these extra eligibility conditions may be defined such as obtaining the minimum cut off marks in an entrance test (CUCET, GATE etc). Or the interviews and group discussions.
- Sometimes, there are more lenient policies in terms of minimum marks percentage for reserved category students as stipulated in the government rules.
- International students may further require documents such as the equivalent letter from the authorities designated by the authorities.
